  love the beach, a few steps away. Cottage needs some tender loving care -- flower box was ripped off the front of the house, others filled with weeds. Furniture slip-covers were flimsy and ripped. But overall, clean and location can't be beat. Thanks!

  The only negative item was that when we arrived we found two very old towels in a cupboard. Later I found wet towels in the dryer, and a set of sheets and the bathroom rugs together in the washer, wet. It took quite a bit of time to get them all dry. Also, I don't feel that guests should have to wash their bedding and towels, that should be part of the what we're paying per night. On a more positive note, we had an absolutely wonderful stay on the Oregon coast. We would love to come back again to this property.

  We enjoyed the cabin very much. The view of the ocean was great and just a short walk and you're on the beach! The only thing that would have improved the stay was if yiu had fewer dining chairs and more comfortable living room chairs. And possibly a dvd player. In the winter there isn't much porch sitting. But overall it was great and I have already recommended it to friends.

  Only downer was the hot water heater - it was not functional the first night. But a phone call was all it took - Sunset got right on it.

  This may not look like much from the front, but it's very nice and updated inside. The location was wonderful. The decor was retro and we liked it. Some of the electric outlets weren't working but everything else was good. We'd go there again.

  What a charming rental! We enjoyed just looking at the character that his house had. And although it isn't "ocean front", you can enjoy the view from the couch in the living room. I would love to stay at By the Sea again! Thankyou to the rental agency for helping us find this at the last minute!

  Owner's neice (or so she said) was found one day in the property having accessed it with her own key. Said she was looking for her uncle's guitar. They were staying directly next door in the adjacent house. I found this uninvited access into a rented property to be totally inappropriate. Owner's or their families should be required to knock (waiting until renters are in the house) and request entry like any other visitor whenever the property is occupied. She seemed surprised that we came just as she was in the house.

  Nice and close to the ocean. It was great to walk up off the beach, past a few houses and then to this house (less than 100 yards) to wash off feet outside on the deck. It is obvious the owners have put effort into upgrading the house itself. Nicely done on the "water closet" in the master bedroom. The next step will be to upgrade the furnishings (the one weak link to this property). It was fun and we would recommend it to friends.

  Could use some front porch seating, only one broken chair available. Coffee table in LR also broken. Could use some more reading lamps, maybe replace 1980s TV in bedroom?! Good for bringing dog to beach, spacious and building generally in good repair.

  This was a nice house, the only complaint we had is the furniture was very uncomfortable, and TVs need to be updated. Beds were comfortable. Location and view was good. Would like to stay again if furniture was updated.
