  June of 2011 was our second stay at the Ford House. We had stayed there together with another family many years ago.
  It was VERY dog friendly, but I didn't notice a strong dog odor.
  We had a beautiful view of the beach from both inside the house and on the deck.
  The living room furniture has definitely seen better days.
  The main TV and DVD player is down stairs, and since the view upstairs was so beautiful we watched hardly any TV. So we were able to spend more family time playing games.
  We were steps from the beach, and about a 15-20 minute walk along the beach to get to town.

  Our family rented the Ford house for the 4th consecutive summer. Needless to say we love it! It is funky comfortable ( The beds could be more comfortable ). That said, this house is our home away from home.The house has lots of room to cook and hang out together as the kitchen, dining and living rooms are all connected. Great view and proximity to the beach!

  We rent this house for a week every year because it accommodates our big family and dog. We appreciate the little updates done, a bedroom was painted, and some TV's were added. It's a great house, very relaxing, we love it! The only thing that seemed odd
  was all of the extra furniture crammed into some of the rooms. And for comfort, the master bed is terrible. We had to haul our foam from home to be able to sleep. The couches are funky and getting uncomfortable in the living room and the basement TV room.
  We rated the staff as mid-range because we really had no contact with them except the initial phone call to reserve the place. Not bad, just not at all personal. Thanks again for a great week at the beach, we love coming to the Ford house!!!

  It's just basically kind of old. Stereo speakers don't work, towels are old and dingy, carpet needs cleaning, pots and pans could be upgraded. It's large and spacious which was what we were looking for so it worked for that.

  My family has rented from Sunset for several years and overall we have been satisfied with the different rental properties we have stayed in. Although the Ford House is in a good location (easy access to the beach, has a view of the ocean) it unfortunately has very a uncomfortable sectional couch and chairs. All family members had back aches upon leaving the place. If a property is going to be rented, it should have comfortable seating, otherwise it should not be rented. We paid top dollar for the rental and expect to not have our backs hurt. There was also inadequate blankets for the beds (barely enough blankets and what was avaialbe were too small for the beds, and most were old and raggedy. (Two were frayed electric blankets.) So even though we thought the location and overall appearance of the house were good, we would not rent this place again unless we were assured that the uncomfortable furniture had been replaced with somehting more comfortable.

  The owners should think about investing in another couch; it is extremely uncomfortable. The stove top's main burner was not functioning. The tap water was undrinkable. Also, the absence of small amenities made an unfavorable impression. Purchase items such as study plastic hangers to replace the old bent metal hangers in the closet, and basics like sugar, salt, and paper towels for the kitchen. I purchased supplies myself for the kitchen and left them for the next guest. The home was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We have rented many homes in Manzanita over the years and have enjoyed them all. Thanks so much. Kim

• Great location and wonderful views from house. Beds were all very comfortable. The couches were extremely uncomfortable and the carpet was very stained, especially in the TV room downstairs.

  We have stayed here every year for the past 4 years. Love the location away from the town but close enough to get there by bike or a walk on the beach. Great deck with ocean view. Can't beat 3rd house from the beach. Only complaints are the master bed which was changed last year. We find it impossible to sleep on which makes one bedroom unusable for us. Also, the fridge went out a day before our check out and so we had to toss out lots of food.
  We love Manzanita, and enjoy this house.

  We had a great time at the Ford House. The location was great, 2 houses to the beach access. We really liked the open top floor of the house. The only down side was the couch was really uncomfortable as was the master bed, really firm. With a few new furniture pieces, this would be the ideal beach getaway.

  We arrived to the house and it was great. Close to the beach with somewhat of a view. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars in all categories was because we had to wash almost every dish that we needed to use.

  There was a hole in the wall down stairs, a beer can in a drawer and the dvd player did not work. the upstairs door can not be unlocked from outside so the only access with a key was from the garage. The house was clean and good views of the water.
