  We had a great time at this home. It was very clean and decorated so nicely. I've rented many beach homes, but this was by far the cleanest. The location is great, just steps from one of the nicest beaches in Rockaway. Easy sandy slope down to the beach, no rocks to climb over. Nice big fire pit right as you enter the beach. Big open beach with a nice calm surf and long slight slope into the ocean. Very safe for the children that were with us. The beach was also very quiet. Just a few blocks south is much more crowded. Location is right across from a restaurant and walking distance into town. Lots of room to spread out for everyone. Great lower deck to sit on when it's raining and the hot tub was perfect after a long day on the beach.

  Garbage was complicated, due to we stayed Tues-Sun and never saw or knew what time to expect a garbage truck. Monday was a pickup day but we left on Sunday.

  The property managers and cleaning crew were VERY friendly and helpful. It was just bad luck that the dryer broke before we arrived and that a scheduling mix up mean that we were an hour late getting in while they finished cleaning. The property manager did offer to buy us dinner while we waited. The house was clean, and the furniture was comfortable. Great water pressure in the shower, lots of hot water. Proximity and access to the beach were nice, but we really missed having some sort of view. The upstairs decks were not a place you'd want to hang out - narrow, facing the street. We never used the fenced-in back yard, as it wasn't really a place for the kids to play: two small square decks (one dark because it was underneath the upstairs deck) and a path between raised landscaped beds. The stairs inside the house were not toddler friendly ("open" stairs leading up to the loft, stairs leading down to the lower floor were open on one side and don't have any rail). For that matter, our dog wouldn't go up or down either set of stairs. Finally, I know it's probably too much to hope for with a rental, but the kitchen was disappointing: I had to buy my own cutting board, and there was no dishwasher. The tools were ancient, and I felt the need to wash everything BEFORE I used it. So... while the people were great and the house was clean, we would not rent it a second time.

  The garbage can was not empty when we arrived. Also one can is not sufficient for a full house. Proximity to the beach is excellent. The house does get some road noise from Hwy. 101 but was not a big deal. The washer and dryer were very handy but are a little noisy and dated. The doors on the closet to them were hard to open and close. A bigger TV in the main upstairs living room would be nice. Overall the house seemed to need a few more lights. These are rather picky items. We wold use the house again.

  We had an amazing time in Rockaway Beach. The house was pretty much perfect for our family. We had 10 there between ages 3 and 83. The stairs going downstairs needs a handrail as they are a little steep and it would be nice to have a dishwasher as with 10 someone was doing dishes all of the time. The location was fantastic. We needed trash bags and they brought them promptly on Sunday morning. It was great.

  My only concern was the open stairs going to the loft and wide railings going downstairs. The little children (1 year olds)that didn't know better were in danger of falling through!

  Only complaints are that there was no cutting board in the kitchen and no dust pan for the broom. There was also a hint of pet urine in the master bedroom near the closet but we had the windows open so it wasn't noticeable during our stay. The red chair is also very uncomfortable in the living room but the couches were very nice. We would definitely stay here again considering how much better it was than some rentals we've had. Also, thank you for having this property in such good condition overall because we were very scared to rent it sight-unseen and driving 1300 miles from Colorado. It was such a relief and we really enjoyed our stay.

  Great house, lots of room, funky layout but fun. Small details - some dishes, silverware, pots and pans not clean; be careful-water WAY too hot and shower control goes in opposite direction; really unpleasant smell in cupboard under sink. Rental process

  We really had a good time. It would have been a lot better if the beds had been as advertised: we got 1 full and 2 queens, not 1 KING and 2 queens. Some of us were VERY uncomfortable. The office was great about getting the dryer fixed. Garbage picked up only once, rather than the twice indicated in book. Fortunately, we recycle seriously, so did not fill the two trash cans provided. Beach access was great; hot tub a real plus.
