Bartlett's Beach House
This charming ocean front home has stunning ocean views! The entire house has recently been remodeled and features exposed beams, new appliances, hardwood and tile floors, tiled walk-in shower, laundry, decks, and private fenced back yard. The living area offers spectacular views of the ocean from comfortable couches, a door that leads directly to the beach, and a flat screen TV with DVD. High-speed wireless internet is also available. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a butcher-block island, dishwasher and enclosed laundry. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, a new 2/3 bath, and a sliding glass door that opens onto a deck overlooking the ocean and headlands. The second bedroom has a double bed and a window that faces a private fenced yard. Clearstory windows in both bedrooms ensure maximum natural light.
Once you walk into this cute home you will never want to leave except to walk on the beach, or to explore the village shops and cafes! This home is strictly non-smoking. No pets allowed.

  Great stay, but unfortunate timing as we seemed to arrive just as some major construction was starting on the street in front. The detours were easily tolerable, but the intense noise of midday jackhammers, excavators and excessive dust all day made it very difficult to leave windows open or relax in or near the house. I suppose it would have been nice to get a heads-up, but not a whole lot anyone could have done by that point. Otherwise, the location and house were great. Love the new renovations since last we stayed at the Bartlett house.

  we have rented the Bartlett house a couple of times, the location is excellent. The property is a small house, in need of some TCL, and could use some updates on furnishings and electronics. we were disappointed in the cleanliness, dusty and somewhat in need of a good scrub. Well equipped kitchen, and the bedrooms are good. But there is only a small deck off the bedroom, the garden is overgrown in the front, with lots of dog poop out there (don't look I cleaned it up) Still on a sunny day the waving grasses in and the beach in the distance still pretty darn amazing.

  As always, when we come to Manzanita, we had a lovely stay. The house was a pleasant surprise - beautifully kept with all new appliances, comfortable beds and a marvellous view from the picture windows.   This was the perfect size house for our family of 4 (2 adults, 5 and 8 year old). We splurged a bit since this was our first trip to Manzanita and being right on the beach was worth it. It was just in the long end of a short walk to town for my 5 year old but she adapted quickly or enjoyed a piggy back ride. This house is also walking distance to the city park with playground and sandy volleyball court. The house was recently renovated and very clean and well-appointed.

  We stayed in the beach house in May and had fairly good weather. However, the living room area has wonderfully large windows that bring the outdoors in. It would be a wonderful stay no matter what the weather. Kitchen was well-appointed. It was within a 10 minute walk from the restaurants and shops on Laneda Avenue. We drove the 1st night and walked the 2nd night. Would be good for two couples or a family with kids that could share a bed. It would be nice to have a deck off the entryway, in front of the large windows, rather than just through the bedroom. A pleasant stay. Manzanita is a wonderful small town!

  It was just my wife and I this time, but we often have a friend or another couple with us. This house would be great for 3 or 4, anything beyond that you'll need a bigger place. Great location as close to the ocean as possible, and a nice remodel on the old beach cabin makes it updated without feeling like you're not at the beach anymore. Good, open layout for a small place and also an easy walk to town.
  
  Two complaints prevent it from being 5 star all around, though. The bathroom vent to outside needs to be oiled/cleaned/repaired/replaced, as it makes a lot of noise anytime there's wind, which can be often on the coast. And, please, get a new wi-fi modem. We had to keep unplugging it to get it to work for 5 minutes and then it would poop out again. My wife just gave up and connected to someone else's network, but it was very slow.

  Another wonderful stay at Bartlett’s. This was our 2nd time. We came in April this time and we believe the time of year plus all the rain storms, this time around, the house made a lot of noise, whether it was settling (creaks, or things flapping outside during the windy storms) it did keep me awake a lot. I think Aug -Sept are better months weather wise to visit. We enjoyed the updates: New beds! Bathroom shower is now bigger and all new. The main bedroom now has an overhead light and half bath. We enjoyed the updated thermostats in each room. Since we were only 2, we used the drawers in the 2nd bedroom and didn’t use the closet in main bedroom. Everything was clean and presentable. The only thing was the detergents for Laundry & dishwasher were not out or clearly marked. I did find some containers that I hoped was detergent for each machine. Kitchen is fully equipped and even has oil, some spices (bring any you may need); we cooked quite a few meals. We purchased groceries from Safeway in Astoria but we did see a Safeway in Seaside as well. Otherwise there is an IGA and local market on Laneda.
  
  We would suggest a chest of drawers in the closet for the main bedroom, clearly marking the detergents for laundry & dishwasher and getting a new modem. The wifi was having major issues the last 2 days of our stay. I had to keep resetting it but that didn’t always help. Also as noted in another post the password is all lower-case letters.
  
  This has become one of our spots and we will return in the future. Be sure to check out Cannon Beach to the north, Tilamook cheese to the south, in Manzanita: pies at Sisters & Pete (we loved the Marionberry pie!), Marzano’s pizza, and El Mariachi Loco’s tortilla soup. Prices have increased from their printed menu and they charge $1 for takeout orders.

  Everything was fantastic about the property. The 2 things that could have been improved are:
  
  1. I had requested a high chair, which was not in the property when we arrived. It came the following day after I made a second request for it.
  
  2. This is minor and very easy to fix.. The internet passcode as printed in the laminate next to the TV reads: BeachHouse (caps on B and H), which is actually wrong. The passcode is beachhouse in all lower case. We were not able to access the internet until our second day because of this.

  The place was much nicer than we originally anticipated. The entire place recently went through renovations, and hence the furniture as well as fixtures were very nice. The place was spotless, well-stocked with towels, appliances and kitchenware. The location was perfect: beach-front property, just a 20 to 30 second walk from the back of the house on grass to the beach. Waking up listening to waves crashing to share was a great experience. The management team was also great. We had accidentally locked ourselves out of the house at one point, and there was someone on-site within 10 minutes to help us.

  The Bartlett house underwent an extensive renovation prior to our arrival and overall the house was in excellent shape. There were a few minor details that seemed to still need some tuning.
  The beds are amazing and comfortable and we were all thrilled with this upgrade. The living room is very comfortable and the view and access to the beach was beyond compare. Having the 1/4 bath in the Master made the house very comfortable for 2 couples. The kitchen is well equipped, although a blender would have been nice.
  What seemed to be still being worked out and needed attention - Overhead kitchen lights were not working, which made preparing dinner difficult. Stovetop is very low powered. New outdoor deck is small and not well equipped with furniture. Odd 2nd deck is not usable (should be turned into an outdoor shower). Front yard is not usable and should eventually be hardscaped and upgraded outdoor furniture added.
  Overall, we would definitely return to the Bartlett house and stay.

  House was spotless, very well-equipped kitchen as far as a beach rental goes. Looks like owners are slowly upgrading the bedrooms - but no issues with them.
  
  This property is one of our favorites due to it being beach-front and within walking distance to Manzanita's main street. Plus, when you go to bed and can watch the moon set on the water from the bed...and see, hear and feel the ocean - well, it just doesn't get much better than that.

  Very cute & cozy and loved the quiet location. We were able to walk to town and there were 2 local grocery stores nearby. Enjoyed the great ocean views from the house and especially loved taking in the sunsets. We had everything we needed in the kitchen - from the cast iron pan to a cheese grater and we really appreciated the starter pack of soaps and paper towels etc. Comfortable setup with tv/cable and wifi.
  
  As others have said the bathroom is small (enclosed shower only) and it would be great if they had a larger back deck to enjoy the ocean sounds and view. The blinds were a bit tricky too. We had a near empty bottle of dishwasher soap but that was just overlooked. 2 lightbulbs seemed to be out - the bedroom light switch turned nothing on?? I found the bed to be uncomfortable after a few nights and saw i was sinking towards the middle, but all and all, the reservation check in and out process was very easy and we would stay here again for sure!

  The pictures really don't do it justice! It was really clean, cozy. The funiture nice! I am a restless sleeper, and was worried about a queen bed, but my lady and I slept great- comfy bed. The location is awesome-right on the beach! It had a nice BBQ in the front which was great. This place would be heaven if it had a back deck. It has a little tiny deck with two chairs which was great for us two. Its a great place for a couple for a romantic get away. Probably not so good for a big family event with lots of people. But, small family or a couple it is perfect!! I am going back for sure! It was worth every penny!!

  Lovely, fun, relaxing long weekend. The view and location are superb. Enjoyed our morning coffee in bed, looking out at the waves. Wandered back from the Sandune Pub after a night of live music -- quick 10 minute stroll along the road. Agree with an earlier reviewer that only thing lacking is a big back deck facing the ocean.   I really enjoyed my stay. it was cute and affordable and the stay was really friendly. the only negative thing i could say would be the cleanliness... overall it was good. but the windows had finger prints all over it and the dishes were packed in the dishwasher. (i had to put some away from the previous renter) other than that i was super happy! and enjoyed it very much!

  Bartlett's beach home is in a beautiful, quiet spot just steps from the ocean. This home is perfection: fully equipped for making a gourmet meal or just sitting on the mini backyard deck watching the sunset while sipping wine. This house is just right, beautifully yet simply decorated, and very cozy (very petite bathroom). As we drove back to 'reality', we started planning our next stay!!!

  This was about our fifth trip to Manzanita. It's a wonderful small town with plenty of charm and amenities,while still being quiet. Bartlett's Beach House is a simple, small, well appointed home with a wide open view of the beach. The only thing it's lacking is a back deck facing the ocean. I think we'd stay here again.

  This is the fourth house we've stayed at managed by Sunset Vacation Rentals. Great house for a small family (1-2 smaller kids). View is exceptional, access is great, easy to walk to town on the beach, or go the other way and enjoy the sights to the south.

  The modest house is right on the beach and met all our needs. It lacks "cuteness or character" but makes up for it in location. The side entrance with a porch and place to immediately ditch shoes, clothes, shovels, etc. works well for the family.

  We had a stormy stay March 28-31, 2012. Rain came horizontally in buckets, and there was some local flooding. We had a great time anyway, and the beach house was fine for two adults and two teens. We found the kitchen to be new and well-equipped.
  There is nothing fancy about this house, but it does have amazing views of the waves from the kitchen/living area and the master bedroom. It is a short walk over some dunes to the ocean's edge. We could walk to the main business street in town in less than 10 minutes.
  The shower stall is tiny and there is no tub. The beds were comfortable. A deck and hot tub would complete this cabin, even a grill inside the fenced area would be nice, but this is affordable beachfront lodging with your own kitchen.
