SPINNAKER ~ MCA 1265

Once again we had a great stay in Manzanita through SSVR. First time at Spinnaker, it's in good central location with easy access to the beach and a short walk to town. Spinnaker is older but has charm and is great for us as it met all of our needs. And very nicely set up for the pooch too. We won't hesitate to stay at Spinnaker again.

The overall impression of Spinnaker was sub-standard, especially given our past (generally good)experience renting with Sunset Vacation Rentals. The price was very high for what we got, and I admit that I was underwhelmed with the house. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but this was not what it was advertised to be.

The entire house was run-down. Furniture was generally uncomfortable and worn (with the exception of the bed in the front room, which I found comfortable. My friend said her bed in the back bedroom was very soft and uncomfortable.

The smoke alarms were not functional. The kitchen was poorly outfitted; if this house supposedly sleeps 10, there would be a great insufficiency of dishes, silverware, etc.

I don't believe the thermostat was working; fortunately, we did not need to use it to stay comfortable with some extra layers.

This is not the most important thing, but the TV was hard to figure out with no instructions or list of channels. I could not figure out how to get cable TV to watch something I really wanted to see, so I concluded that there was no cable. WOULD BE GOOD TO KNOW; again, there were no instructions--just a large number of remotes.

Finally, check-in time of 5:00 p.m. is too late.

I am very disappointed with this rental. I would not recommend it to anyone. It makes me wonder about renting from Sunset again.

Rustic and rough around the edges, but quaint and comfortable. Very clean, as well. Amazing location! Rooms tiny and furniture aging, but everything else here for your lovely beach getaway. Just go in with the right expectation, and you’ll enjoy. Only starter quantities of things provided (eg one roll of paper towels), so pack or plan to buy your consumables. No coffee filters provided, requiring first night unplanned store trip, but coffee maker takes cone filters size 4 if you want to pack along! Great getaway with our toddler and dog and would book again.

This quaint and cozy little beach cabin was the perfect size for our family of 5. The four bedrooms and two bathrooms were great. The distance to town and the beach were very convenient. The only downside is that the cabin has been well lived in. It could use a solid once over to clean up some stains, loose nobs and fixtures etc. Yes, I would stay there again and hope the owner gives it some love this off season.

The house is a wonderful beach adjacent spot! Easy to walk to town and the beach and it’s dog friendly which I greatly appreciate. My only issue is that for the price I would expect things to be a little better take care of. For instance, the baseboards aren’t nailed down in places and the back deck seems really broken (when you step on it, the entire thing tilts forward towards you). One of the bedrooms had a blanket nailed over the window as blinds, and all the rugs in the rooms were filled with sand.
There were only 2 of us, so we just used one room and didn’t use the deck- which is fine because the front yard is awesome. But with a $140 cleaning fee PLUS a $50 COVID cleaning fee and a $50 damage waiver (which you don’t get back if there’s no damage) and a dog fee, it felt really expensive for a place that they don’t take the effort to make as nice as it could be. Plus you couldn’t check in till 5 because of COVID cleaning procedures but nothing about the house felt “cleaner“ than an average rental. Not to mention that with the science that we know about covid- there’s really nothing extra to be done that they shouldn’t already be cleaning
Don’t get me wrong, we had a blast staying here, but it did feel like we got taken advantage of from a money standpoint. Thankfully I got to sulk about it in a wonderful location. I guess that maybe is just part of staying on the coast in the summer?

We really enjoyed our stay at Spinnaker. There were plenty if beds and common room seating for our crew. The house was clean and comfortable with the exception of something being burnt onto one of the ovens which made it pretty much unusable the entire time. Thank goodness the range wad a double oven! :) The kitchen left a little to be desired. It was equipped with a lot of tools but most of them were random or not in good shape. I would recommend management just starting over with reading the basics and ditching the load of random useless items. When staying a week it got a little tiresome to cook with subpar instruments.

The house is in a perfect location. On a quiet street, just half a block to the beach and a quick walk to the main strip to shop or eat.

This is nothing to do with house but I would recommend considering skipping Tuesdays and Wednesdays as days you stay in Manzanita. There is pretty much nothing open on those days.

We had a family weekend at the beach. This house was perfect. We loved how eclectic it was. It’s divided up, some rooms up front and some in the back. Great to separate parents from kids. It had everything we needed. Even extra blankets to get cozy by the fire. Close walk to the beach for a fire at night. All in all, loved the little old house

This property was expensive for 4 people (I guess because you have to pay both VRBO and Sunset Rentals fees)it's set up for families with kids and due to COVID there were a lot of hoops to renting, but we enjoyed it.

Our family really enjoyed Spinnaker. It is tucked away but close to everything. Not fancy or pretentious but enjoyable with room for all to settle in. Don't expect a lot of storage space but why do you need it.

One note of caution - the yard is fenced - PARTIALLY. Fortunately our little dogs didn't discover that until the last day and I caught it before they headed out. The front is fenced but the little side yard gives access to the fenced back yard which gives access to the driveway and away they could go.

Great location!! Less than a block from the beach and
walking distance to town. Living area, fireplace and kitchen were great. The bathrooms, yard and bedrooms were a big disappointment. There was no closet, one shower, no counter space for your things.

There were 3 of us in a home that can potentially sleep 10. It was very comfortable for 3 but would be really tight with 10. Problems: No closets in. No bedroom had bedside tables. One room had 2 hooks on the back of the door. One room had none. One room had no room in the bureau drawers. Desks were potentially very useful. Great large TV with lots of options.

We enjoyed ourselves here...short walk to beach for dogs to enjoy the sand and open running! Lost power for a night due to the high winds, but we were on a 2 week camping trip to start with and decided to have 2 night break in a VRBO. We hope to come back again soon!

The location of this rental is great! You are able to get to the beach in 30 seconds and that made the stay so great. As for the house it is a remodel that hasn't been completely finished. All the kitchen supplies were purchased at a yard sale and the beds will make you sore to sleep on. I liked staying here, but my family hated it.

We reserved this rental for it's fenced yard for our dog. To our surprise, a very large part of the fence was broken upon our arrival. Sunset Vacation rentals staff was very apologetic and prompt about finding a solution for us. They even moved us to different rental with a huge yard. I was extremely pleased with their customer service and we will happily rent from them in the future. The spinnaker is a cute rental, it was clean and has nice amenities such as cozy blankets, kitchen items, games etc.

The Spinnaker rental property was very spacious and comfortable. The location of the property could not have been better, with easy access to the beach and into town. We comfortably slept 6 people and really enjoyed the main living space. The decore was very outdated and the rooms were small but at the beach, none of this seems to matter! Things you will need to bring with you when staying here: a wine opener, baking tray or pan, more paper towels, a cleaning spray for counters or tables and dry would for the fire place(there’re were wet soggy logs in the front yard when we arrived). Very limited with kitchen gadgets. We would highly recommend this property and would like to stay again!
Also- Sunset Vacation Rentals is a fabulous company to book with and very helpful and accommodating.

Overall, we had a great time and stay in this very cute cottage. Good floor plan which made it easy to accommodate the family. Great location walking distance to main street of Manzanita and beach. The kitchen supplies were a little short and needs some inventory upgrade (pots, pans, bowls, tools). It is maybe also a good idea to alert folks upfront that teh cottage is keyless to mange the arrival better.

We had a nice week, only a block away from the beach, at Spinnaker. Very nice weather. We had 10 and all slept comfortably. Quirky mix of newly remodeled and older parts of the house. There is only baseboard heat, so heating the house takes a while, but it is comfortable overall and is well-equipped.

The house location was perfect! Easy beach access about 1 block away, quiet street, and a few blocks from the park. My kids we able to ride their bikes up the road to the park and it was easy to go back and forth to the beach. Manzanita main street is also close. The house was well maintained and cute. It would have easily accommodated another small family or couple and was very spacious for our family of 4 and dog. The living room is a bit small for the allowed 8 people, but it could work. The fenced yard and picnic tables are awesome, there is even a kid size picnic table! Also French doors and a small deck outside one of the master bedrooms was a really nice feature.
The water pressure in the shower was ridiculous but nothing I couldn't live with at a beach house.
Overall its become one of our favorites! We will definitely return.

Our family loved the location to both the beach and shops. We walked everywhere we needed to go in manzanita. A good location for day trips, too. The house met all our needs. We are definitely going back.

This home is so close to the beach, by far it's main feature. The interior is rustic, yet comfortable. The living room space is very inviting and the vaulted ceilings adorned with lights really make it special. The staff at the rental agency were very warm & inviting, we would love to stay here again.

We went with friends - 3 other couples besides us - and had a lovely time! Some of us used the bunk rooms, others the queen rooms and we slept pretty well overall. The bunk bed mattresses were good quality for adults, not just kids. The main living area had plenty of very comfortable seating for all of us to enjoy the fireplace and lots of good conversation. The dining table just needed 2 more chairs - which we brought with us - and we all enjoyed meals and card games there. The kitchen was very functional even though the dishes don't match, nor do the wine glasses! But we had enough of the necessities for all 8 of us, and we took turns making great meals. The price was affordable, it was very clean, well stocked and described correctly on the website. We had a fantastic weekend there. We had good customer service, even on a Sunday morning after 10 am when we needed to call in with a question. We shopped the grocery store on the main street through town, and wandered through other shops as well, but didn't eat at the restaurants on this trip (although we have enjoyed several places in Manzanita in the past!) The beach access was only a short walk away, so that was a nice bonus, too! We definitely recommend Spinnaker as a great and low cost option for a nice Manzanita getaway!

This little place was perfect for our group. It was super cozy with the dark wood, fireplace and comfy couches. The location is great -- it's less than a block to the beach. The bunk rooms were perfect for our group as we had people unrelated staying in them.

The towels and bath ammenities were a great touch, and I can't tell you how nice it was to have at least a spounge and some dish soap! The beds were super comfy and I loved the extra wool blankets.

This cabin was perfect for our family's recent stay in Manzanita. We originally had plans for another family to join us but they were unable to at the last minute and we weren't able to fill their spot so it ended up being my husband, toddler, baby and I. This house definitely could have accommodated much more than just the four of us. In fact, with the two rooms that have Queen beds and the other two bunk rooms it seems like the perfect home for two families. We loved walking to town, less than five minutes down the road, and to the beach, less than one minute down the road. The location is SPOT ON. We even got to sit out in the front yard and enjoy some sunshine (which was rare the weekend we went). The only thing I would say is be prepared if you are going to cook to bring all of your fixins (including things like foil, oil, spices, etc). I have stayed at other places that had these on hand but this cabin did not. Overall we would recommend this cabin and hope to return sometime with our friends!

The street next to the house was being completely reconstructed, so we had earthquake-scale house shaking going on. Not the fault of the management.

Great beach access. Sleeps a lot of people. Pretty small house but it felt big. The back two rooms and bathroom are separate so it made it easy to separate two families.

We had a problem with the key getting stuck in the lock. We called and they had someone there to help within 5 minutes, so I'd say great service.

We have stayed in Manzanita probably about 6 times and each time we try and stay somewhere new. The place was true to the pictures. It was cozy, clean and had a nice feel to it.

I would suggest Sunset Vacation Rentals doing a few things to make the stay more seamless.
1. Tailor the welcome pack more to each property. Calling out that there is a separate electric blow heater would have been useful.
2. I do think expanding on the welcome pack - shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, salt and pepper and sugar would also be helpful.
3. Not expecting guests to wash sheets. It can be problematic and take away from the holiday experience.

Overall we had a great stay and would definitely consider using Sunset and

Thanks to the SSVR staff for an easy reservation and check in/out experience. This house is laid out in a way that makes it ideal for two small families--Queen bedroom and bunk bedroom by bath with tub off of the dining room, and another set of bedrooms with full bath behind the kitchen, with deck and laundry room behind a door between laundry room and kitchen/living room. Our teens loved having the front space to themselves and we liked the back. Well equipped kitchen, lots of games, plenty of seating. It is a flexible space. Queen bed in back bedroom would be comfortable for one person or a matched-size couple -- not great for one heavier person and one lighter person. House was clean and had no dog or mildew smells, so clearly is regularly cleaned. The location is great -- easy walk to shops and only a couple of blocks to the beach.

This is an older cottage that has been added onto and halfway renovated. The kitchen and living area have been updated--we especially loved the spacious new refrigerator and large dining area.The one thing the kitchen lacked was shelf space for our groceries,which we wound up keeping in the adjoining laundry room. The beds are comfortable--even the bunkbeds have good mattresses, but otherwise renovation has not reached the bedrooms.If scuffed floors,trim that needs repainting,or dark green walls in a small bunk room are going to bother you, don't stay here. But we loved the layout of the house, which allowed the night owls to sleep at the opposite end of the house from the early birds, preserving harmony in our extended family. The location was great, a very short walk down a quiet street the beach. Everything was clean when we came in, although we could tell that dogs have stayed at the property. The price was very reasonable and we would gladly stay here again.

We hadn't been able to sneak away to the coast for a few years and were so excited to get a gorgeous winter weekend away. The Spinnaker didn't let us down! It was cute and very comfortable. Has everything you need for a home away from home. We brought our 2 dogs with us and they had a blast as well. We would definitely recommend this house and we will be returning again!

This house is simple but comfy. It's a nice 1/2 block walk to the beach. We rented it over New Years so it was cold, but we got to see the last sunset of the year. Pretty cool. Working with the rental company was easy and convenient.

Very nice and comfy. There was a mishap regarding a questionable odor, that was very swiftly addressed. Overall loved the laid back vibe.

A very comfortable house, especially for our four grandsons. The beach was only a block away, so the dogs were happy as well. We will definitely consider this location again.

We've been staying at Spinnaker for about 10 years. It's a great location, and it works well for our family.
Two things need to be addressed though---the stove is a challenge, with burners that don't work well and provide inconsistent heat. It's advertised as having cable TV, but doesn't get ESPN or other channels which carry the Ducks and/or Blazers. There are also no instructions on how to access the system, which is confusing, since it has 3 remotes.

The new kitchen remodel is very nice. It is great to have 4 rooms too. We also like the new button combo feature to get in rather than worry about keys. Great to be so close to the beach and downtown and the golf course. It was the warm weekend, like 90s, so it would have been nice if more windows opened. Also liked having wifi this time.

the house and location are great. we enjoyed the charm manzanita had to offer. the beach is clean, expansive, and quiet. it is also dog and kid friendly. the house is outfitted well. the yard could use some serious clean up and TLC. i would also say the house was not white glove clean~stained carpet, dirty windows, and lots of dust bunnies. the beds were satisfactory, but desperately need new pillows in all the bedrooms. all in all, a great time with family, which is most important. i would recommend sunset rentals, but the house maybe a bit rustic for some.

The Spinnaker was Ideal for our family vacation, close to the beach and to the downtown store and to the restaurants. We shall certainly come again.

Family time! Nice & relaxing. A beach house that reminded me of my childhood. I would recommend this place, great price too! I would come back!
